Earth Day Celebration

Earth Day Celebration

April 23, 2016

In honor of Earth Day, our Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) held an open house on April 22nd. Customers and residents were able to tour the facility, see lab and garden demos, and take home compost made by a company that uses dewatered biosolids from our dewatering facility at the plant.

"Our mission is closely connected with the Earth Day mission because we are charged to be environmental stewards of the receiving stream," said Jason Manning, WWTP Superintendent. "This was a great way for our staff to showcase how GUC plays a part in protecting our water sources."

Environmental Symposium

GUC Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant staff shared interactive activities at the annual Neuse River Guardians Environmental Symposium held at River Park North on April 18th. Stormi Amendt (WTP), Brooke Norton (WTP), Jesse Chadwick (WTP), Julius Patrick (WTP), Crystal Respess (WWTP), and Karen Preston (WWTP) were on hand to educate the 400+ students from across Eastern North Carolina.
