GUC Receives State Safety Awards

April 24, 2018

Safety is a top priority here at GUC. The NC Department of Labor (NCDOL) and the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce recently recognized our efforts to work safely at the annual Safety Banquet on April 19th. For some of our departments, this was the eleventh consecutive year earning awards at the banquet. In all, we were honored with 17 safety awards.

GUC was recognized for One Million Hours with no lost-time accidents (November 5, 2016 through January 24, 2018).

Gold Level Awards were presented to companies with days away from work, job transfers, or restricted time rates at least 50% below industry average. Awards at this level went to Administration (11th year), Express Office (11th year), Human Resources (11th year), Information Technology (11th year), Wastewater Treatment Plant (11th year), Administration Building (10th year), Customer Relations (5th year), Red Banks (4th year), Meter (4th year), Finance (2nd year), Water Resources (1st year), Water Treatment Plant (1st year), and Greenville Utilities as a whole (1st year).

Silver Level Awards were presented to companies with days away from work rates at least 50% below industry average. Awards at this level went to the Electric Department (3rd year), Gas Department and Utility Locating (2nd year), and Engineering and Operations (2nd year).

NCDOL's Safety Awards Program was established in 1946 and recognizes private and public organizations throughout the state that maintain good safety records.

Congratulations to all on a job well done — safely!
