Randy Bowen Retires

Randy Bowen Retires

November 27, 2018

Randy Bowen, Water Resources Construction Inspector, (pictured left with Cliff Cahoon) recently retired after 30 years of service with Greenville Utilities. Before becoming an Inspector (a position he held for 20 years), Randy was a Water Resources General Utility Worker and a Crew Leader. His job as an Inspector was to make sure any extensions to the water/sewer systems were being constructed according to contract specifications and GUC standards. He visited job sites while the projects were in progress to coordinate connections to the existing GUC systems and inspect the installation of the new facilities. Following installations, he monitored systems pressure testing. For water system extensions, he coordinated disinfection and bacteriological testing for water quality assurance.

“I’ve loved my time at GUC, and retiring is bittersweet,” said Randy. “It was a blessing to work for such a family-oriented company. It’s hard to say goodbye to my GUC family that I’m used to seeing daily.”

Randy plans to enjoy more time with his wife, Suzy, and their two adult kids (Bryon, who also works at GUC, and Dana), as well as six grandchildren (Hunter, Emma, Hayleigh, Savannah, Kayden, and Lexie). “I’m sure I will also spend many hours deer hunting,” he said, “and watching Gun Smoke, lots of Gun Smoke.”

We wish you the best in retirement, Randy!
