To most, Customer Contact Representative II Sandy Woolard is someone who is hard-working and truly loves helping people. Whether it's through volunteering at her local church or working in the GUC Call Center, she knows how to brighten someone's day.

Sandy has been with GUC for 10 years and loves everything about her job, especially considering she never knows how the day will go. "What I like most about customer service is that every day, it's something different," Sandy said. "There's a different story and different scenario. We really want to help people."

And while some days are challenging, she has a great team of co-workers to help when needed. "I love GUC and all my coworkers," said Sandy. "They are a good group to work with. We work very well together."

Sandy mostly answers calls from customers wanting to connect, disconnect, or transfer service. She also helps individuals whose service has been cut off. Additionally, she worked on the Optimizing Processes and Technology to Improve Customer Service (OPTICS) project and helped with the implementation of GUC's new customer care and billing system, CC&B.

"We implemented the system to fit the needs of billing and customer service," she said. "We trained employees on how to enter an order, how to do a transfer, how to enter a customer into the system, etc.  Also, I helped with the website part of the system where customers manage their accounts online."

Originally from Washington, Sandy stays incredibly busy when she's not at GUC.

"I stay busy with both of my kids," Sandy said. "My daughter, Payton, is a cheerleader in high school. Either we are at a football game or basketball or cheer competitions. And my son, Larry, will start T-Ball in the spring. And of course, there's always homework."

And although being a single mom can be difficult at times, Sandy says her strong relationships with her mother and daughter make all the difference. "My daughter is a big help and so is my mom," she said.

There's one thing many people may not know about Sandy. She loves NASCAR and drag racing. In fact, her father has a Camaro and races during warm spring evenings in New Bern, Creswell, and Jacksonville, just to name a few places. When not watching her dad race, Sandy enjoys playing tourist at Disney World and Busch Gardens with her kids, her parents, and her sister's family.

She also enjoys the simple pleasures in life. "I just enjoy spending time with my mom, my dad, and my family," she said. "I consider family time some of the best time."
