George Darden 20 Years

George Darden recently celebrated 20 years of service with GUC. He is a Systems Dispatcher II at Station 1 and handles everything from outages to customer service and billing questions, 24/7.  George says he loves his job and the great co-workers who help him get through the challenging moments.  "I am proud to have called GUC my home away from home for the last 20 years," he said.

In his spare time, George is very active in his church and serves as a deacon and the technology/production engineer.  He's also a 26-year veteran of the Red Oak Fire Department and serves as Chair of its Board of Directors. George loves spending time at the river with his wife of 12 years, Candice, their daughter, Avery, and new baby boy, Tate.

Scott Mullis 20 Years

Scott Mullis recently celebrated 20 years of service with GUC. As Assistant Director of Customer Relations, his responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Customer Relations Department.  "I try to make sure our staff has the tools and support necessary to carry out our mission of providing exceptional service to the customers we serve," said Scott. He says he enjoys the challenges of the job and the friendships he has at GUC. Scott has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 29 years. They have three adult children. When not at GUC, Scott enjoys golfing and attending music concerts with his family and friends.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Becka Hanson (formerly Paschket) on her marriage to Clell Hanson, III.

Congratulations to Robert Veale, Water Treatment Plant Instrument Technician II, on passing his North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators B-Well Certification. To get this certification, Robert attended a week-long school in Raleigh where he studied and was tested on a variety of topics including pumps, instrumentation, bacteriology, iron and manganese removal, corrosion control, lab procedures, disinfection, and more.

Anita Smith sent a thank you email to Allisyn Sanchez, Customer Contact Representative I, in reference to a bill inquiry. "You are the best," she wrote. "Your customer service skills exceed perfection. Have a great day and thanks so much for helping me."

Bonita Spain filled out a customer service card complimenting Keshia Pierce, Customer Contact Representative I.  "Keshia was very pleasant and so efficient," she wrote. "She knows her stuff."

Bonnie Anderson called to compliment Gas Systems Crew Leaders Ralph Langley, David Telfair, Bobby Green, and William Morning, along with Gas Service Worker Tony Richards, and Gas Systems Technicians Mickey Dawson, Justin Oakes, Paul Bunch, Jason Haddock, and Curtis Dixon for the role they played in her service installation. She really appreciated the hard work and dedication it took to get her service installed considering the challenges that resulted from Hurricane Matthew. She said she was very pleased with the excellent customer service that this group of men displayed.

Maribel Ivory filled out a Customer Service card about Linda Hinton, Systems Dispatcher I. "Linda was very professional and extremely nice to me on the phone," she wrote.

Susan Powell, school counselor at Belvoir Elementary School, wrote a letter thanking Electric Engineering Assistants Wendy Rogers, Jeff Oakley, Ryan Van Scoy, JC Haddock, Walt Gaskins, and Mike Dunn for showcasing career opportunities during the school's recent career fair. "The presentations on your profession for each class (K-5) were awesome," she wrote.  "The staff and students are still commenting on how educational the presentations were. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge about your company and career."

SYMPATHIES

Our condolences are extended to the family of Jasper Donald Hudson who recently passed away. Mr. Hudson was the Assistance Finance Director until his retirement in 2000 after working 31 years at GUC.

Our sympathies go to the family of Kenneth Earl Adams who also recently passed. Mr. Adams was a Stores Clerk who retired in 2001.

Our sympathies are also extended to Water Resources Systems Maintenance Crew Leader John Hart and his family on the death of his father-in-law, Wilbur Sheffield.
