Connecting With Key Accounts

Connecting With Key Accounts

February 22, 2019

Meeting the needs of all our customers is vital. Our larger customers, like commercial and industrial accounts, have a significant financial impact on our system as well as special needs to ensure that their businesses operate at top capacity. We call them Key Accounts. One way we support our Key Accounts is through communications.

GUC recently hosted a luncheon to share updates and information with our Key Accounts. Tony Cannon, General Manager/CEO, and Kathy Howard, Business Development Specialist, updated them on upcoming capital projects such as the Water Treatment Plant expansion, new Operations Center, and others. A video highlighting these projects was shown (you can check out the video at spotlight.guc.com).

“The informational luncheons give these customers an opportunity to network with each other, our Key Accounts Team, and Management Team,” said Kathy.

The updates were well-received. “The Key Accounts Luncheon was very good,” said Chip Tillett with DSM Dyneema. “It allowed us to have a social gathering with our peers and create new contacts within the community. GUC does a great job of keeping us informed and up-to-date on new projects, and the Key Accounts Team creates a solid relationship with quality service and informative communication.”

We also heard from Marvin Edmonds with Vidant. “The luncheon was very informative,” he said. “I work very closely with the Electric Department and was aware of some of their planned infrastructure improvements. However, I was amazed to learn about the natural gas storage plans and the reason behind it! GUC has a great team and I’m very appreciative of our partnership.”

Kathy serves as our utility liaison for economic development. She works actively to partner with local agencies on business and community development. Our Key Accounts Team supports Kathy in these efforts and in regular communications with our Key Accounts, including feedback from these customers on how we can continue to improve in all areas of serving large accounts.

GUC’s Key Accounts Team members are Business Development Specialist Kathy Howard, Assistant Director of Electric Systems John Worrell, IT Applications Manager Becky Pope, Assistant Director of Customer Relations Scott Mullis, Natural Gas Supply Officer Freddie Martin, Assistant Director of Water Resources David Springer, Accountant/Auditor Sandy Dail, Natural Gas Supply Analyst Robby Bright, and Electric Planning Engineer Kyle Brown.
