Lighthouse Has Banner Year

Lighthouse Has Banner Year

February 7, 2020

2019 was a successful year for the Lighthouse process. Observers, with the help of those being observed, as well as crew leaders and supervisors, completed 3,468 observations in 2019.  That exceeds the goal of 3,360 and is 442 more than were done in 2018.

Those observations provided 3,468 opportunities for peer-to-peer conversations about safe and at-risk behaviors. Those discussions helped reinforce the 38,060 safe behaviors that were observed, as well as became a chance to problem-solve the 37 at-risk behaviors that were noted.

One of the hallmarks of Lighthouse is identifying and removing barriers to safety, and five barriers were dealt with in 2019.  You can find out more at spotlight.guc.com. We are currently working on removing three more barriers right now.

Thank you for your part in making Lighthouse a success! It takes each of us participating and supporting the process to make it work.

Here’s how the numbers break down for each department in 2019:

  • Electric – 1173 (goal 1008)
  • Water Resources – 862 (goal 1296)
  • Gas – 664 (goal 576)
  • Finance/General Manager/IT – 380 (goal 240)
  • Meter – 365 (goal 288)
  • Misc – 24
