Lena Previl (Human Resources) represented GUC at Wintergreen Primary’s Career Day on April 10th.
Pitt Community College
On April 11th, Tracy Williams, Aracely Smith, and Leah Herring (Human Resources) represented GUC at Pitt Community College’s Career Fair.
Bilingual Job Fair
Cortney Bazemore and Aracely Smith (Human Resources) attended the Bilingual Job Fair on April 12th at the Pitt County Agricultural Center. They shared career opportunities and general job tips to the attendees.
ECU Pirate Festivities Touch-a-Truck
Thank you to Bradley Hardee and Matt McLawhorn (Electric) for attending ECU’s Pirate Festivities Touch-a-Truck event on April 13th with one of their bucket trucks for children to explore.
Ridgewood Elementary
On April 15th, Tracy Williams, Aracely Smith, and Teresa Sutton (Human Resources) attended Ridgewood Elementary School’s Community Career Fair to speak with students about Greenville Utilities.
Grow Local
Employees across GUC were once again busy participating in the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce Grow Local program from April 15th-22nd. Middle and high school students throughout the community toured our facilities to learn first-hand about all the careers we have at GUC. Additionally, Andy Anderson (IT) visited Ayden Grifton High School to present to students interested in pursuing a career in IT.
EV Demo
On April 15th, Jacob Barnes and Kyle Brown (Electric) represented GUC at ECU’s first-ever Electric Vehicle (EV) Demonstration event where eventgoers could test out EV cars and chargers and learn more about what our area offers to EV owners.
PirateFest
GUC employees joined others from our community to help make the annual PirateFest event a success. On April 20th, the PirateFest celebration was held in Downtown Greenville and offered food, art, and entertainment to people of all ages. Some of our employees were on hand to provide information, give prizes, and help with virtual reality bucket truck rides to ensure event-goers had a fun time at our booth.
Thanks to Porter Harris (Water Resources), Caitlyn Mclawhorn (Finance), Dell Laster and Jacob Roberti (Gas), Isaiah Bradshaw and Adam Wainright (IT), and Emily Garner and Cameron Britton (Public Information) for making GUC's adventure at PirateFest a huge success!
Teacher Executive Institute
On April 17th, teachers with the Pitt County Schools Teacher Executive Institute toured many of GUC's facilities. Thank you to Linda Clark (Public Information) for acting as tour guide and Charles Buck (Gas), for driving the group all day, Amy Wade, Lou Norris, and Paige Wallace with GMO for organizing the day, and to each of the operating departments for hosting the teachers throughout the day.
