2017 Damage Prevention Breakfast

2017 Damage Prevention Breakfast

April 12, 2017

The Annual Contractor Awareness/Damage Prevention Breakfast and Seminar was held on April 11th at the Electric/Water Resources Maintenance Building. This annual event is sponsored by the Pitt County Utilities Coordinating Committee (PCUCC), along with NC811, Piedmont Natural Gas, Greenville Utilities, and the City of Greenville. Attendees included contractors, engineers, builders, and representatives from the sponsoring companies.

There were two speakers this year. Howard Corey with NC811 talked about the importance of contacting NC811 before digging, and shared examples of damages when utilities were not located ahead of time. Gentry Coward from City of Greenville Public Works spoke about the Right of Way Excavation Permit that goes into effect in June.

The PCUCC is comprised of representatives from all the companies at the breakfast. They have been meeting monthly since the 1980s to share information and promote damage prevention. The following Greenville Utilities employees serve on the PCUC Committee: Will Prescott (Gas), Brian Murphy (Electric), Eddie Brock (Water Resources), Mickey Tripp (Water Resources), and Cherlyn Barrett (Gas).  Special thanks to Shirley Peele, Deanna Casetellow, Jarrett McGalliard, Alan Cummings, Troy Perkins, Eric Phillips, and the Building and Grounds team for their help in coordinating the event.
